“…peace …quietness and assurance for ever.” - Isaiah 32:17
That sounds good, “peace … quiet”... in fact - that sounds great!
We often think, “Peace and quiet… ahh!”
Hang on, there’s more, there is the other word, “assurance” – that’s great too. We can have the assurance that everything will be peace and quiet and that everything will work out for the best!
That’s just a fairy tale!
Nobody can have all of that… can they?
“Zion... the foxes walk upon it.” - Lamentations 5.18
This can’t be good... Zion is where the Temple is... was... this can’t be good.
We only have to see which book of the Bible this verse comes from to know something is wrong.
“...he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.” - 1 Peter 2.6
“…what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?” - 1 Peter 4:17
Often the Bible says things in a way that we have not thought of before. The above verse says something that I find very interesting: A person’s eternity depends on simple obedience. Obedience of... the gospel.
