Strength & Courage

“Only be thou strong and very courageous” - 2 Chronicles 32.7

Strength & Courage

It takes strength to be firm.
It takes courage to be gentle.

It takes strength to stand guard.
It takes courage to let down your guard.

It takes strength to conquer.
It takes courage to be meek.

It takes strength to be certain.
It takes courage to face doubt.

It takes strength to fit in.
It takes courage to stand out.

Full of Deadly Poison

“...full of deadly poison.” - James 3:8

The Bible says that something is...“full of deadly poison”! What? What would the Bible say is “full of deadly poison”?

The way the Bible says it is pretty descriptive: “full of deadly...poooiiissssssoonnn.”

It almost sounds like it could be a snake! But it's not. Snakes can certainly be poisonous, and we would take care if we had much to do with them, but what does the Bible say is “full of deadly poison”?

Search the Scriptures

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: - John 5.39

No matter how many times I remind myself, or write it on a sticky note or write it somewhere in my diary I still need to see it, hear it, and DO IT...

READ MORE BIBLE!!! Any time... any where... all the time... everywhere!!! Which to me just simply means “at every opportunity.”

... In the Way ...

(Based on Genesis 24.27)

This is a verse we revisit from time to time because of the way it gives us perspective.

Have you ever felt like you were just - “in the way”?

A Perverse Spirit

“The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof:” - Isaiah 19.14

That is about the last thing anyone would want, wouldn’t you say?  When it comes to all that the Lord does, He does so much; but I wouldn’t want Him to do that.

Do what? “The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst...”

A Swift, Sharp Affliction

“As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.” - Proverbs 26.2

How many kinds of birds have you seen lately?  Can we think of times in the Bible when birds are mentioned?

Have we ever thought about how birds wander from place to place all day long?  And sometimes we see birds flying and we never really know “where in the world” they land!  What is interesting is this: Birds never just come and land on us!

...to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

(Based on 1 Timothy 1.15)

What sort of sinner am I?

The Apostle Paul makes it very clear what he thought of himself... He saw himself as the “chief” of sinners. Do we know why?  Not completely, but Paul does tell us how he fought against God and persecuted those who had trusted Jesus Christ as their Saviour.  It may not seem that Paul was “as bad as some”, but he certainly knew he was without Christ having no hope, and without God – dead in trespasses and sins! (Ephesians 2.12 and verse 1)

God's Workman

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” - 2 Timothy 2.15

Sometimes we think of study as a BAD THING  –  BUT it’s NOT!!!

Sure... study does mean “to make (an) effort” and to “be diligent”, but those are the sorts of desires, gifts and abilities the Lord gives us... when we become a born again Christian – Amen!

The desire - to know things about the Lord and the Bible that we never knew before!  “Thy words were found, and i did eat them;” (Jeremiah 15.16)
