“They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness.”

Psalms 145:7

“abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness”

Whew!  That’s a mouthful.  But do we have a lot of memories about God’s goodness?  Memories of God working in our lives, helping us, and blessing us?  Do we talk about them a lot?

I realized a few things when I read this recently:

  1. If I would stop and think about it, I really should have a lot of memories of God’s goodness.  Things He did for me even before I was a born again Christian!  But the key phrase there is, “If I would stop and think about it…”
  2. I need to be making more memories of God’s goodness…  I mean, I know that God is good to me, God is very good to me all of the time but I’m not sure I think about it enough, or thank Him… enough…  Maybe it’s because I spend more time worrying about things, or thinking about my own things…

Okay, so there’s something for me to work on, and for all of us as born again Christians – talk more about what God has done for us.  Yes, maybe not always the long story, have the “short story” ready.  But yes, be prepared to “abundantly utter the memory of (God’s) great goodness”, be prepared to have a blessing to share.

And since we’re on the subject, this year has already had some highs and lows - but God has been good!  We’ve experienced some great things, and we’ve experienced some very sad things – and God has been good.

It’s easy to forget, but let’s not forget!  Let’s not forget all the goodness that God has done for us!
