Thy Word Is

Thy word is…” - Psalm 119.105

“Junk miles”.  That’s what runners used to call the running they did every day, day after day, day in and day out - just to keep fit for the races!  Runners still do the running, they just realized to call them “junk miles” wasn’t accurate.  These miles were important and became extremely useful when considered properly!

“Thy word is…”

Sometimes we read our Bible like runners running their “junk miles” – we just do it “day in and day out” because…  because… because why?  It keeps us spiritually fit…?  Yes.  But, is that all?  Let’s consider just a few thoughts:

Our Bible reading keeps us focused and “settled”.

“For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.” Psalm 119:89

Our Bible reading keeps us going in the right direction.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105

Our Bible reading keeps us clean and well spiritually.

“Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.” Psalm 119:140

Our Bible reading keeps us in tune with reality, with what is true.

“Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.” Psalm 119:160

Our Bible reading helps us know the Truth.

“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” John 17:17

Just like runners realize there is no such thing as “junk miles” so born again Christians realize every promise in the Book is mine, every chapter, every verse, every line… all of it, every bit of it - it is all so good for us!
