They did nothing.

“…they have done nothing…”

Jeremiah 32:23

That sounds bad and, it is bad.

This passage from the Book of Jeremiah speaks of people who claimed to know the Lord.  It speaks not only their actions, but also theirattitude, and that was after God gave them everything!

And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them:

How sad!  How foolish!  Compare that with this, from Matthew’s Gospel:

His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Matthew 25:21

Now, we have a choice:

“they have done nothing”

or…

“Well done”

Salvation is the free gift of God’s grace, we can do nothing to get it and once saved, we can do nothing to lose it.  But, as a born again Christian we have been given so many opportunities and what we DO with them is completely up to US!   Do we claim to be a Christian?  Then, how does our life compare?  What choice have we made?  May we be faithful, and hear the Master say, Well done” rather than,“they have done nothing”.

Run with patience,

Pastor
