But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves; for the wind was contrary."

Matthew 14:24

It’s not a matter of “Will we have a storm in our life?”  It’s a matter of when and how big is the storm.

“the ship was now

in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves”

The disciples found themselves in a boat in the midst of the storm, and they were in the boat because Jesus told them to get in the boat! Verse 22

Storms try our faith.  James wrote that we are to count it a blessing when our faith is tried.  Storms are used of God to teach us that there are things, over which we have no control.

The disciples were "stuck" on a boat, in the water, in the midst of a storm… right “now”!

The disciples had just witnessed the feeding of a multitude with a few loaves and a few fishes.  We, like the disciples, do not think clearly when we are in the midst of the storm. We often do not remember how God has provided for us in the past time of need.

Where is the help?  The solution?  The disciples found the help and the solution was centered in Jesus.  Do you know Jesus as your personal Lord?  Is your life surrendered to him?

We need Jesus in our lives. We need to learn to lean on him while we are in the "boat of life". Storms can teach us to do that very thing.   God's love to us was expressed on Calvary. God's love for us is expressed in his goodness toward us which is designed to lead us to repentance. Romans 2:4 (adapted JD Strain)

So why not trust Him completely… “now”?
