Obey or Don't

“…what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?” - 1 Peter 4.17

Often the Bible says things in a way that we have not thought of before.  The above verse says something that I find very interesting:  A person’s eternity depends on simple obedience.

“...the gospel…”

The Gospel is that Jesus died, was buried and rose again the third day, according to the scriptures. (1 Corinthians 15.1-4)  He died, shedding His blood, because we are sinners – only He can save us.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Mathew 11.28)

“…obey…”

OR

 “…obey not…”

To some, this might sound harsh – but it’s not.  God loves us.  He is telling us to come to Him for peace, rest, and forgiveness.  Do we accept that?  Do we believe that?  Are we willing to turn from our sin in repentance?  Are we sorry for our sin and willing to trust Him in faith to save us?

“…what shall the end be of them that

obey not the gospel of God?”
