Might Have Hope

...that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures

might have hope.” - Romans 15.4

The whole verse is this: “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”

It begs the question:  How much comfort do I get from the “scriptures”?  How well am I able to find my questions answered from the examples of the people in the Bible, and the instruction surrounding them?

Yes, we are able to see that the Bible is written for our learning...  Many people have learned many things from the Bible, but when it comes to everyday things, practical solutions in an often impractical world... do we find what we need from the examples and instruction of the Bible?

It does take “patience”, and we do have to read it and think about it, (otherwise known as taking heed, meditating, and prayerfully applying).

So, do you ever hope you can get something figured out?   “...through patience and comfort of the scriptures...  have hope”!

Are you ever trying to understand a situation?  “...through patience and comfort of the scriptures...  have hope”!

Simply find someone in the Bible who is dealing with the same sort of thing, and learn from what they did.  Remember they may have done the wrong thing... so don’t do that!  But if they did the right thing – do that!

Remember, people have not really changed very much since God created us!  Same sin nature – same need for help!
