The LORD’s Mercies

“...of the LORD’s mercies...” - Lamentations 3.22-23

“It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed,

because his compassions fail not.

They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”

I thank the Lord that He brings this verse to my mind dozens of times throughout a year.

Where would any of us be without the mercy and compassion of God?

Thankfully we don’t have to dwell on that thought – because whether we were in some terrible ungodly situation, or just living a pointless, lonely existence without hope, “It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed”...  “Consumed “, sooner or later by a life without Christ.

It does us good to remember:

Our worst day as a born again Christian

Is far better than –

The best day for someone without Christ!

“It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed,”

This certainly gives us a chance to spare a thought, and offer a prayer for those still unsaved, and without Christ.  Those who are being consumed by so many things, whether it be false religions, or the cares of this world, obsessions, discontent, depression, materialism or worse.  Remember,

The Lord’s  “compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
