Have faith in God

“Have faith in God.”

Mark 11.22

In the context of this verse we see the failing of the nation of Israel, the cursed fig tree.  Then Jesus tells the disciples, “Have faith in God” to draw their attention away from the failings of man, to the everlasting, ever working, never failing will and work of the Lord.

Though God chooses to work through man He created, He is not bound, nor is His love bound, by our weaknesses, or by our failings.  Speaking of this, the prophet Habakkuk, who was weak at times, says, “I will rejoice in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.” Habakkuk 3:18-19

When it comes to the Lord’s Word, the Lord’s work and the Lord’s church and its mission, the mountains of today will not stand in the way.  “That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that these things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.” Mark 11:23

“Have faith in God.”

Then, be prepared to serve the Lord.  Be prepared to put our hand to the plough and not look back – Luke 6.62.  Be prepared to have our “faith increased” by serving all day, then serving some more – Luke 17.5-10.  God can miraculously remove mountains and He can also strengthen us to move them one shovel full at a time… that’s basically how the mountain in this image got moved!  “Have faith in God.”

Run with patience,
