“. . .for Christ’s sake. . .”

2 Corinthians 12.10

Why do we do what we do?

We should do what we do, and we should live the way we live – for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ, “for Christ’s sake”

Whenever I come across this phrase in 2 Corinthians I am amazed and humbled at how the Word of God can direct us.

We are told this often, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Isaiah 55:1.  And from the Psalms, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105

So, when was the last time we took God at His word, “for Christ’s sake”?  When we directed our feet from the Words of God “for Christ’s sake” and then saw the Lord’s blessing?  Too often people, even Christians, go through life just “hoping for the best”.  Yet Jesus said, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

Is our life spiritually abundant?  Do we have the gifts of the Spirit enough to share?  Does the Word of God make such a difference in our lives that we can’t help but just share what we learn from it… “for Christ’s sake”?

May we do, everything we do, for the sake of Christ!

Run with patience,

Pastor
