And Jacob Lived
And the time drew nigh that Israel (Jacob) must die...”
Genesis 47.28-29
When Jacob described his life he said, “few and evil have the days of the years of my life been “ (Genesis 47.9). He realized that he had lived much of his life for himself. It had taken him a long time to decide to live for God.... and now the fact was made... he MUST die.
“And Jacob lived... And the time drew nigh that Israel must die...”
The Year of our Lord 2017 is coming to an end and, it is about to go forever from us. Like the life of Jacob, it MUST die.
Have we lived for the Lord Jesus Christ?
Have we grown in the Lord?
How will we look at the New Year?
What will we change?
Like Moses says in Psalm 90.12, “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” May the years of our life not be “few and evil” – rather... may we say, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.“ (Galatians 2:20)
