“My sheep hear my voice...”

John 10.27

“It is possible to get to a place where we need no argument to prove to us that the Bible is God's Word.

Christ says, "My sheep hear my voice”.  God's children know His voice, and I know that the voice which speaks to me from the pages of that Book is the voice of my Father... Everyone can have that testimony.

John 7:17 tells us how to get it: "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God."  (R. A. Torrey)

How well do we trust the Lord, and follow the Lord!  Especially when the Lord is warning us? “know of the doctrine…”!  Know what God is teaching us about everything in life!

It is very important for us to hear that quiet voice.  Elijah the prophet tells us of the “still small voice” that God used to speak to him.  David asked the LORD to “try” his “reins”, which means like letting the reins of a horse gently touch the horse’s neck to turn it one way or the other, not a forceful sort of thing at all.

(1 Kings 19.12, Psalm 26.2)

So, how easily, and how simply can the Lord speak to our heart, and we hear Him?

The point for every one of us is to make sure we have heard something from the Lord... recently, and also often.  Read His Word until we can see It is reading us!  Listen for that voice of warning, or encouragement, or direction – from the Word of God... not visions and dreams and warm fussy thoughts.  No, that is NOT how the Lord speaks to us - “My sheep hear my voice...” “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” (John 1.14)
