“and declare thou unto me.”

Job 40.7

(from our church bulletin October 2022)

Please forgive my paraphrase.

God says, “You’ve been talking long enough, it’s my turn.”

We are shocked and we say, “Of course.  I’ll shut my mouth.”

God says, “I’ve made some decisions about your life.  And now you’re telling everyone that I’m wrong… and you’re right?  You’re saying that you know better than me?  Are you sure about that?  Are you sure you want to stick with that sort of thinking?”

We say, (we should say)  “No Lord, I’m sorry.  I am so wrong.  Please forgive me.”

“Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said, Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it. Then Job answered the LORD, and said, Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth. Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.

Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said, Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me. Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?” Job 40:1-8

Sometimes it is so hard to understand, but God does have a plan for our life!

His plan is the best plan.

And I must tell myself (please excuse my language) “Frank, shut your filthy mouth.  How dare you keep telling everyone that God got it wrong?  How… dare… you Frank?”

May we work hard, to have the patience of Job, and to know when to keep our mouth shut and accept God’s will for our life, rather than tell everyone the mistakes we believe God has made…  God makes no mistakes!!!
