“This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Matthew 3.17

How often are we reminded that we have a heavenly Father?

Probably not often enough.

Whatever our relationship with our earthly father was or is – there is a heavenly Father who seeks to guide us, help us, and fellowship with us.  Our heavenly Father who wants to say, “This is my beloved (child) in whom I am well pleased.”

It is humbling to think that the Lord Jesus Christ allows us to be “joint-heirs” with him.  It is amazing to think we are allowed to be called “the sons” of God.  Christ chooses to share – so to speak – that wonderful relationship with the heavenly Father.  It is little wonder that the Father says, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

When was the last time you enjoyed a visit with your heavenly Father?  When was the last time you listened to Him, as your Father, when He perfectly advised, and guided, and shared helpful wisdom with you?  When was the last time we made the effort to spend some time with Him?

We do have a heavenly Father if we have received His only begotten Son as our Lord and Saviour – let’s plan to spend time with Him… every day!
