“the glorious gospel”

1 Timothy 1.11

The “easy to see good news”.

I use a wall calendar here in Australia called the “easy2C” (easy to see) Calendar, and I think it’s a good

illustration for this verse.  The word “glorious” here has to do with something that is “very apparent, or we might say, “easy to see”, and the word “gospel” means “good message”, good news.

So, what does this mean to us?

God is telling us, through the Apostle Paul here, that everyone needs to be saved from their sins and it is Jesus who CAN save!  “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners;” verse 15.

And we’re also being told that we have a part in helping people come to the Lord Jesus Christ, just like Paul had a part in this… “According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.” verse 11.

So, I must ask myself… is this glorious gospel, the “easy to see good news”… easy to see in MY LIFE?

Am I “easy to see”?  Like, is my attitude “easy to see”?  Is it a good attitude?  Are my words “easy to see/hear”?  Are they kind and truthful words?  Are my motives “easy to see”?  Are they godly and unselfish?

Do I understand that this glorious gospel has been committed to me as a born again Christian?  The Gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord is amazing and incredible and glorious in so many ways because it is such good news!  And so may God help us to do all we can do to make sure that it is “easy to see”!

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
