“…because they trust in him.”

Psalms 37:40

(For context, please note this was the devotion in our church bulletin from one year ago, as are most of these.)

We don’t always know that we are trusting in the Lord, but sooner or later OUR TRUST IN THE LORD WILL BE TESTED!

The past several weeks, leading up to our Missions Conference, which is a very important time for us as a church, we were tested as a church!

Our Missions Conference is IMPORTANT BECAUSE:

  • We are reminded that a church is to “Go” and share the Gospel.  Starting right here where we live and then go to the rest of the world.
  • We consider the people we can talk to, the places we can share the Gospel, then ways we can share it, i.e., inviting people to church, giving out gospel tracts, our church “Thank You” cards etc. and supporting missionaries.

So yes, this time is very IMPORTANT!

But did you know, did any of us really know, about the spiritual battle going on, the challenges we were facing as a church?  (Like, in the book of Job, he didn’t really know about when God and Satan were discussing him.)

The main thing was health.  Many of us had covid or a bad cold/flu recently.  Several of us have had either ongoing health issues, or something that has come up in the past few weeks.  Several have been working through serious, difficult issues with their job, including needing a job!  Dealing with these things are sometimes the HARDEST THINGS PEOPLE DEAL WITH.

Also, we cancelled church on Sunday two weeks ago!  The first time I’ve ever done that in nearly 30 years!  Our church website was maliciously attacked by “a new malware” and we were offline the week leading up to our Missions Conference.

Any of these things - and I’m sure there were more, could have been unsettling - or distracting, but this is what we found last weekend… “And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.” Psalms 37:40

Praise the Lord!
